Booked & Busy is Brisbane's chicest book club with a conscience. We're a community of readers, talkers and good-time gals and boys who believe a great book is better with a glass of something and a room full of people who want to talk about it. Holly started Booked & Busy after calls for a royal commission into the killing of women and girls in Australia were brushed aside. She wanted to build something beautiful that also did something useful. So she started a book club where every ticket gives back to women facing crisis. What we do: Every month we choose a book, meet somewhere lovely and talk about it. Our conversations range from analysing capitalism to existentialism to radical feminism. The discussions run deep, but we keep it light and always end up cackling regardless. No pressure to finish the book. Just come for the company. Some months we go a little further, with guest speakers, workshops and conversations on the things that matter to women, from safety to wellbeing. Where the money goes: 100% of proceeds go to women in crisis through Micah Projects. Every ticket you buy helps support women in our own community when they need it most. Come along!
