Tangles Dwyer is an emerging artist based in Meanjin (Brisbane), driven by material experimentation and tactile exchange. Their practice draws on fetishism and kink as spaces of power, intimacy and control. With a focus on how their work is engaged with, Tangles' practice has shifted towards directly interactive forms. Through performance, sculptural elements, and emerging experiments with puppetry, Tangles engineers situations that encourage and pressure participation, testing how people act, what they allow, and where they hesitate. Navigating charged spaces between discomfort and care, Tangles practice invites proximity, implicating the viewer into the power dynamic being exchanged.
