Plain Jane
Brisbane / Meanjin
‘Plain Jane’ is the musical project of singer-songwriter and instrumentalist PJ McEwan.. Despite their softer sound, Plain Jane packs a punch, exploring the abstract and often overwhelming emotions of human existence through their folk/country adjacent sound. Inspired by musicians such as Courtney Barnett, and Big Thief, Plain Jane brings both energy and tenderness to the world of their music. 2025 was a mammoth year for Plain Jane, who saw the release of two singles, Better Words, and Bull, to recognition from 4ZZZ and Triple J Unearthed. They are now focused on developing their live set and broader audience as well as planning to release more singles during the latter half of 2026.
