Kat Abril

Brisbane / Meanjin

Kat Abril is a Queer Panamanian artist and illustrator who uses a range of mediums (gouache, watercolour, ink, colour pencil). Their art creates an environment of whimsy and fun using surrealist elements. Their artwork incorporates their philosophy that "Art is Play", which has inspired them to put fun before perfectionism. This also extends to their use of nature motifs, as, in nature nothing is perfect and there is beauty in that.
